Splattered eggs

Do you remember the nursery rhyme " Humpty Dumpty"?

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall;
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall;
All the king's horses
And all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty together again.

I was reading the rhyme to my kids yesterday and then it hit me. Here you have a splattered egg, and nobody could help him....What a mess! If you turn the rhyme around, it may help you understand God and mankind. When God created man, He put him on the wall of His perfect protection in the Garden of Eden. Then sin got into man's eyes and he couldn't see God. Sin got into his heart, and he couldn't believe God. He fell right off the wall of God's protection. What a mess!
When through Adam all of mankind fell, all the king's horses and all the king's men- all the prophets throughout the old Testament- did everything they knew to do, but they couldn't put mankind back together again. It took a king. In fact it took more then just a king. It took the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords- Jesus! Without God our lives are a mess, and nothing in this world can fix us and make us right. But God (one of my favorite phrases) sent Jesus to rescue us from the powers of darkness. And not only does He fix us, clean up the splatter of life, He makes us new. We are complete in Him.

So if you feel like your life is broken, splattered even, understand you can not fix it. It is beyond your repair, but Jesus is always waiting to come in and help you, clean you, make you new. Only He can make you whole.

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds" Psalm 147:3
