Who I am

I move about my household glad each day, with a heartfelt care of all the simplest ways. Near my side I hear my child's voice coo and sing,I hear the noise of pattering feet at play, I kneel down to kiss the lips that say momma and hold the hand that clings to my heart, as to my apron strings. Then when the day has drifted to dark, and the stars are bright, I feel my heart within my bosom stir, my life’s reward is just a footstep away, my beloved comes to claim me, and gladly I will serve him, for he is the best part of me.

I am the keeper of my home, a teacher to my children, a faithful wife to my beloved, and a lover of my Lord...this is me.

I trust God...don't I?

It is so much easier said then done. Why is it we have the greatest intentions to live out God's word to be as close to a resemblance of Christ and yet we fall short. More often then I wish care to admit. Here I am sharing how I feel about something...I feel it so strong and yet I'm doing the opposite of what I share. So what happens when I am confronted with truth that I am not practicing what I preach. Well it brings me to a cross road am I going to continue to travel the road that even though I believe something else am I going to continue, or change that specific disobedience in my spirit and just trust God?
It's easy to say that I trust God in every section of my life but then when challenged what do you really believe? You realize hmm I lack in this area . So in this section I seem to lack trust in God I am taking the dive and giving Him the situation completely. It's not always a happy moment when you are pointed out your flaws (have salt poured in the wounds so to speak), but it is a momentous moment when you do what is right to change to be as close as you can to Lord Jesus. That's what I want more then life itself. I want to love like Him, live like Him, reach like Him, forgive like Him, and I know I am so far still but I also know I am nothing like I used to be because of Him.
I know that I am constantly put in situations to keep stretching me and molding me. Moments that I wish so many times not to be in. When people you love are the ones that hurt you the most. That because they feel wronged I have become the person that they release passionate anger upon, where they have completely humiliated me and in front of my children. To the point that they ask "Mommy why does that person talk to you like that?" and before you answer them you have to remind yourself that that person is aiming to be like Christ too. That their flaws are no more then mine, and even though they can make me feel worthless I am still special to the one who made me, and that He knows why better than I He has put me in these situations. So I answer my children "Because no one is perfect, that we all keep making mistakes, what is important is that we keep forgiving and loving and not hold value to how others treat or talk to us but know who we are in Christ and how precious we are to Him. So do I trust God?....Yes and will continue to give Him every area of my life to Him because He loves me.

Back to running...first 5k in a long time and a yummy treat...Strawberry filled Brownie Bites

I had wanted to post this earlier but of course got side tracked. Along with my resolution for the year of losing baby weight this year, I also  added running back on my list. So I have returned, I love running and to be honest I get convicted when I don't. I know that probably sounds weird but it's true. There is such a peace to it, I feel like that is my time completely alone with God. That at that time I need Him so much that I am constantly drawing on Him to make it the whole distance not only mentally, spiritually but also physically. Anyways I know it's not the same for everyone, but that's what it's like for me.
So March 19 was my first 5K in some time. I figured it would help me train for my Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, remind me to post about that some time to. The race went well, I ran it in 31.9 minutes and was 959 out of 1800 people...I know nothing to brag about, but I ran it, I never walked, and I feel like I'm back in. So to me that was a little victory, just might do y victory dance, Lord knows I did my victory eating. After the race we went to possibly my favorite restaurant Mamma Mias in Plymouth, Ma, then off to Cupcake Charles for a little something something. Now I'm on the prowl for a 10K or 1/2 marathon to do before my 38 mile walk in May. Let's see what happens. Here's some pictures of the day....please notice that I had the cutest cheering section in the whole race. Nothing like booking it into high speed at the end when you can hear "Go mommy go mommy" got to make it look good for the kids right ;0)

Here's a little recipe to help you have energy for your runs or just keep up with the kids. I got this recipe from Raw Food Made Easy

4-6 chopped strawberries
2 tsp raw cocao powder
3/4 cup of raisins
10 pitted merjdool dates
1/4 cup of shredded coconut
extra for rolling bites in

Take all ingredients except strawberries and extra coconut and pulse in food processor, until ball of dough form. Then scoop out a tbs spoon of "dough" flatten and form cup and fill with strawberries and close up dough and shape into ball, now roll in bowl of extra shredded coconut and devour oh I mean enjoy. Store in fridge if you actually have any left.

Will you help me pay it forward....Avon Walk for Breast Cancer

March 2011

Dear Friends,

Did you know that every three minutes, another woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer? I did. My mother was one of them.

As I watched her go through the process of diagnosis, surgery, and treatment, I saw the toll cancer takes on the mind, body and spirit. It is physically, emotionally and mentally draining. Thankfully, my mother made it to the other side and beat her breast cancer, but so many are not as blessed. For those that battle with breast cancer I want to bring hope. I want them to know that they are not alone and that others care.

I refuse to let others do the work that I know I am capable of doing. I refuse to sit on the sidelines and just wish for things to be better. I refuse not to help. It's time to put action to my words. Will you join me? Together we can make a difference.

On May 14-15, I'll spend the weekend walking, along with thousands of other people, in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. I will walk the distance of a marathon (26.2 miles). It is a very long and exhausting walk but it is nothing compared to what a breast cancer patient goes through. Something I know first hand, having watched my mom.

I'll have to spend the next couple of months training, fundraising, and preparing for the event. It's the biggest challenge I've ever undertaken, but I'm up for the challenge because I know it will make a real difference to the millions of people affected by breast cancer.

The money raised goes to the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade, a 501(c)(3) public charity whose mission is to provide access to care and to work towards finding a cure. They provide funding to organizations all over the country in five specific areas: medical research, clinical care, support services, educational and advocacy seminars, and community-based, non-profit early detection breast health programs. Much of the money raised will stay right here to help people in our community.

I'm required to raise at least $1,800 to participate. Please help to support me and the breast cancer cause by making a generous contribution to my efforts. You can make your donation online by simply clicking on the link below or mail your check payable to Avon Walk for Breast Cancer to the address below. Please remember as you're making your donation that in less than the time it took to read this e-mail, another woman in the U.S. was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Thank you for your support,

Melody West
