Splattered eggs

Do you remember the nursery rhyme " Humpty Dumpty"?

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall;
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall;
All the king's horses
And all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty together again.

I was reading the rhyme to my kids yesterday and then it hit me. Here you have a splattered egg, and nobody could help him....What a mess! If you turn the rhyme around, it may help you understand God and mankind. When God created man, He put him on the wall of His perfect protection in the Garden of Eden. Then sin got into man's eyes and he couldn't see God. Sin got into his heart, and he couldn't believe God. He fell right off the wall of God's protection. What a mess!
When through Adam all of mankind fell, all the king's horses and all the king's men- all the prophets throughout the old Testament- did everything they knew to do, but they couldn't put mankind back together again. It took a king. In fact it took more then just a king. It took the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords- Jesus! Without God our lives are a mess, and nothing in this world can fix us and make us right. But God (one of my favorite phrases) sent Jesus to rescue us from the powers of darkness. And not only does He fix us, clean up the splatter of life, He makes us new. We are complete in Him.

So if you feel like your life is broken, splattered even, understand you can not fix it. It is beyond your repair, but Jesus is always waiting to come in and help you, clean you, make you new. Only He can make you whole.

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds" Psalm 147:3

Thought for the day

Romance is an element of fascination and delight that culminates in a deep desire to experience all with the one we love

Oh my sweet sugarpie.....well

Actually it's Buttermilk Pie but....nonetheless so yummy. I found this recipe on a website I like to frequent and had to make it. So off I ran into the kitchen with old southern hymns and then the beatles....all about balance my sweets, and began building a little piece of heaven. Now remember you have to allow it to cool and the chill, and all I can say is delish.

Pat-in-the-Pan Crust Ingredients:

* 2 1/2 cups Flour (All Purpose Unbleached)
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1 teaspoon sugar
* 3 Tablespoons cold milk
* 2/3 cup oil (vegetable or canola–make sure it is fresh!)

Buttermilk Pie Ingredients:

* 1 1/4 cups sugar
* 3 tablespoons flour
* 4 eggs, whisked
* 1 cup buttermilk
* 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
* 1 stick butter, melted and cooled (1/2 cup of butter)
* 1 tablespoon lemon juice (fresh squeezed)
* 1 tablespoon lemon zest
* pinch of grated Nutmeg

Pat-in-the-Pan Crust Directions:

1. Whisk together dry ingredients in a bowl until blended
2. Add wet ingredients and stir gently until the dough forms a ball.( For a tender crust, do not over mix).
3. Put dough into pie pan and pat it thin and flat to conform to the shape of the pan.
4. Crimp the edges.
5. You are now ready for the filling.

Buttermilk Pie Directions:

1. In your mixer, combine the flour and sugar.
2. Stir in the eggs, and buttermilk .
3. Add the cooled melted butter, vanilla, lemon juice, and lemon zest.
4. Add a pinch or two of grated Nutmeg.
5. Pour into the unbaked pie shell.
6. Put the pie in the center of the oven and bake at 425 in a pre-heated oven for 15 minutes, then lower the temp to 350, and bake for 40 more minutes.
7. Cool then keep chilled.
